149: Dr. Mark Goulston — Leadership Psychiatrist and Best Selling AuthorDr. Mark Goulston is a psychiatrist, a mentor to top executives and CEOs, bestselling author, and is considered to be the world’s number one expert in deep listening and influence. His book, Just Listen, is the top book on listening in the world. He teaches listening for empathy around the world to highly diverse groups of people including FBI and SWAT hostage negotiators,  coaches, teachers and educators, and recently in Moscow to over 400 managers and CEOs from the Russian Federation.

Mark’s other six books include Get Out of Your Own Way, first published in 1996, which has been in the top 20 self-help books at Amazon for the past ten years. His current focus is assisting high-performers win in business without losing at life. His book, PTSD for Dummies serves as a foundation for his teaching and training of traumatized people to heal and thrive.

The empathy with which Mark listens is really like a superpower. The cool thing is that you can learn it too (he teaches us how). He calls it “listening for” instead of “listening to.” He also has a technique called the “Fud Crud” intervention. It’s really about dealing with what lies underneath anger, upset, and sadness… disappointment. These are just two of the methods/techniques we talk about during the interview.

My take…  if you get good at even just one of these, it has the power to transform every relationship in your life. Seriously. Listen up and sharpen your pencils… I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did.

Thanks, Dr. Mark!!

The Good Kitchen.
125: Dr. Jason Fung — Author of The Obesity Code

One of the best things I’ve ever done is to get prepared, Whole Life Challenge-compliant meals delivered to me during the week. It makes my life so much simpler, eliminates any questions I might have about healthy food for those meals, and reduces the number of decisions I need to make each day.

I highly suggest trying it out. It was a game-changer for me. The Good Kitchen will deliver pre-made, chef prepared, WLC-compliant meals (breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner) right to your front door via FedEx.
