A lot of people don’t like drinking hot coffee in the hot weather. Here is an alternative way to get your buzz on with a cold, frothy drink that won’t fill you up with junk like those expensive treats from the coffee shop.
My friend Sheldon gave me a version of this coffee banana protein smoothie recipe years ago, but I modified that recipe some. Of course, the yogurt is a great source of protein. But I use plain yogurt instead of the vanilla yogurt in his recipe, and I make sure it’s full fat instead of low fat.
Feel free to play around with the ingredients to make this coffee banana protein smoothie treat fit your tastes!
Coffee Banana Protein Smoothie
Get your buzz on with a cold, frothy drink that won’t fill you up with junk like those expensive treats from the coffee shop.
- 1 cup black coffee
- 3 very ripe bananas
- 3/4 cup full-fat plain yogurt
- 2 dozen ice cubes
In a blender, add coffee, bananas, yogurt.
Blend until smooth.
With blender running, add ice cubes. Blend at high speed until smooth.
For a variation add WLC-compliant protein powder or a little bit of unsweetened cocoa powder. Adding the powder while the blender is running will help keep it from clumping.
