What is the Whole Life Challenge?

The Whole Life Challenge is a 6-week lifestyle journey, dedicated to improving your health, fitness, and overall well-being — one habit at a time.

Watch the video below to learn more.

We all want to eat better, feel better, be fitter, and have a better relationship with ourselves and others.

And with the Whole Life Challenge, we’ve found a way to get it done — building the sustainable habits we need to lead happier, healthier lives.

"This was my first Challenge. I felt lost and unhappy and wanted to get on the right track. I’m down 17 pounds, and lost 6.5 inches on my waist. And I can run for 3-minute intervals, which I could never do before…"

— GINNY

"My husband bought this shirt 18 months ago at Comicon. His initial excitement over a Firefly shirt abruptly ended when we got home because he realized the large was way too tight. Well now, he’s down just shy of 40 pounds and today is the first day he’s gotten to wear it…and he’s only played at Kickstart."

— SUSAN L.

"My recent blood work shows a drop in LDL, an increase in HDL, and a drop in triglycerides from 79 to 55. My doctor and I are both thrilled, and my 32-year-old son-in-law physician said my numbers are better than his (and I’m 60)!"

— LINDA

"Made my goal, ya’ll. Below 170 for the first time in 8 years…"

— CHRISTINA H.

The concept is simple. Each day during the 6-week Challenge, you and your teammates get points for completing each of the 7 Daily Habits:

  • NutritionnutritionEat nutritious, healthy foods from your food list
  • ExerciseexerciseBe active 10 minutes a day
  • MobilizeMobilizeStretch 10 minutes a day
  • SleepSleepSleep for a duration you select, one that leaves you feeling rested
  • HydrateHydrateDrink ounces of water equal to your body weight (in pounds) ÷ 3
  • Well-BeingLifestyleLearn weekly practices to help you feel happier and more connected
  • ReflectReflectAt the end of each day, write briefly about how the day went

Each habit is worth 5 points per day upon completion, and scores are recorded on the WLC website (which you can easily access from your mobile phone), keeping you on track and accountable for your results.

The reason this works:

The Whole Life Challenge meets you where you are, allowing nearly anyone to participate — whether you’re just beginning your journey or you’ve been pursuing health and well-being for a lifetime.

  • You define your exercise.
  • You choose how much sleep to get.
  • You select your hydration goal.
  • And you pick your nutrition level — Kickstart, Lifestyle, or Performance.

And while we’ll help you every step of the way — the real reason the Whole Life Challenge works is it empowers you make the choices that best fit with your life.

What Other Players Are Saying

Beyond Food And Exercise

The secret sauce of the Whole Life Challenge is two Habits that matter a ton — Reflection and Well-Being. It’s these elements that take the Challenge beyond just food and exercise.

With Reflection, you’ll take a moment at the end of each day to write about how the day went, spending time with your successes, your gratitude, and your intentions for tomorrow. And you’ll support your teammates — with the simple comments that help sustain everyone who has the courage to make big changes in their life.

And with the Well-Being Practices, you’ll spend a few minutes each day building joy, kindness, and happiness into your life, whether you’re trying a new basic breathing exercise, expressing appreciation for your friends, being mindful about how you use technology, or just taking some “me time” to start each day.

Why You Should Play

When we ask our first-time players why they join the Whole Life Challenge, they almost always tell us they want to change something physical, and they want to be held accountable for getting it done.

  • They want to lose weight.
  • Get in better shape
  • And they want to feel better.

And when we ask our advanced players why they keep playing, the answer changes a bit.

Because they’ve discovered, after a few Challenges, that the physical changes are merely a side effect of taking care of yourself.

And they start to recognize that the real power of playing this game is not in changing your body, but in taking responsibility for all of your daily choices — physical and mental.

And in knowing if you want to change something about your life, you can do it — if you just have the courage to start.
